Map every candidate AI use case onto two axes: Business Impact (revenue uplift, cost savings, competitive advantage) and Implementation Effort (data readiness, complexity, time to value). Where a use case lands determines its strategic priority.
Quick Wins
High impact, low effort. Pursue immediately. These are your proof-of-concept projects that build momentum and demonstrate ROI quickly.
Strategic Bets
High impact, high effort. Plan carefully and resource adequately. These define your long-term AI differentiation — worth the investment.
Fill-Ins
Low impact, low effort. Implement when capacity allows. Useful for building team capability and confidence with AI tools.
Avoid
Low impact, high effort. Remove from the roadmap. These consume resources without meaningful return. Revisit only if circumstances change.
The 10-Point Scoring Rubric
Score each potential use case against five criteria, each on a 1–5 scale (1 = poor, 5 = excellent). Total scores determine matrix placement and comparative ranking across your use case portfolio.
